Going Direct to Consumer

Helping Salvo 1968 go direct to consumer

It feels like a long time ago and perhaps a time we would prefer not to remember, but between March 2020 to March 2021 we all struggled with the idea of a pandemic, lockdowns, distancing and worse.

Our client Salvo 1968 certainly wasn’t expecting to have to make the massive changes to its business that were suddenly required of it. A bastion of the London Italian food industry for over 50 years, it had been selling only to Professional kitchens, Deli’s to Pizza and Italian restaurants.

Voodoo had originally been asked in late February, 2020 to come and consult on opportunities to improve their digital marketing and prepare for a new distribution centre in the North of England.  As it turned out we had to help within a month help their teams sell directly to consumers across the country, who were now in need of their pasta, sauces, fresh goods and importantly pizza products!

The team at Voodoo worked with Salvo to provide a rapid plan and then executed it for them, from new Search Engine Advertising campaigns, to a host of digital marketing activities including, full management over social media channels, building an audience on socials, and mailing list, the planning and implementation of weekly newsletters, and ad hoc digital marketing services.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Pushing through a new D2C business focus in the early days of the lockdown
  • Ecommerce support & Ad buying
  • Mailer research, creation and distribution
  • Social media channels management

KEY RESULTS:

  • 13% increase in revenue
  • 22% uplift in ecommerce conversion rate
  • 9% increase in ATV
  • Average 30% open rate on mailers
